Did you know? – Rayners set for more Club World Cup history
After etching his name in FIFA Club World Cup history last time out, Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star Iqraam Rayners will once again be under the spotlight this week.
In what has been a memorable first season with the Brazilians, it can be said that Rayners left a lasting impression among the adoring Masandawana faithful.
As Rayners continues to showcase his class in front of goal, the ex-Stellenbosch FC striker has been a star turner during the recent FIFA Club World Cup showpiece in the United States.
After getting his name on the scoresheet during Sundowns 4-3 defeat against Borussia Dortmund last week, did you know that Rayners became the African player to score in successive FIFA Club World Cup matches?
Rayners scored in both of Sundowns’ Group F assignments, namely against Ulsan HD and BVB, while the Tshwane side will now turn their attention to Brazilian giants Fluminense on Wednesday evening.
As it stands, Sundowns occupy third position in Group F, one point behind both Fluminense and Dortmund.
